Sue's Fitness Blog
I did it! I pressed the button on the keyboard to register for the 2013 Golden State Championships, which is a physique/fitness/bodybuilding contest in Santa Barbara on April 20th. Why? Because I want to show other middle-aged moms (today is my 50th birthday) that they too can still get fit and strong with consistent work and clean eating habits and feel more confident and better about themselves. I also wanted to be able to gain exposure for my personal training and Beachbody coaching business so that I can help more people reach their health and fitness goals. No other work gives me the satisfaction I get from helping others be more successful in all aspects of their lives.
Today, I had my second meet of the season at the Santa Barbara Relays. My goal was to take attempts at 5'2" or 5'3" and to improve on the 5' jump I did two weeks ago at the Carpinteria meet. I ended up getting 2nd place at a college meet competing against young girls about 30 years younger jumping 4'10 1/2".
For those of you who know me well, know that I decided to chase after a very big goal this year. This is the year I turn 50 years old and this is the year I am training to break the Masters American and World Record in the high jump.
